I tried sketching in both 2D and 3D. 2D gives me more control over details and the structures; where as 3D has more emphasize on forms

I disassembled and reassembled 1:1 sea vessels and oil rig models to prepare the kibash parts, similar to how actual film sets were built, but with much bigger scale. Now with the power of 3D we can disassemble and reassemble almost anything we want :)
